Fall

When Fall comes
I like to play
In the leaves
With my brother
We jump in the leaves
And have fun!
Then we rake the leaves
and bury ourselves.
I love to throw them in the air
And try to catch them
We like to fall in the pile of

Leaves!

Standing in a meadow

I was standing in a meadow there was tall grass every were you looked. There was a pond that lead into a brook. I saw millions of wild flowers and in the corner of my eye I saw a baby deer with its family. I heard birds chirping it was a beautiful day. The sun was just setting and the sky was turning purple. There were wild ponies running free. I looked down and saw billions of ants scarring all around. I looked and saw mountains and forest behind me. The moon was out it was shining bright and the meadow was still the wind was gone I was standing in meadow with nothing in sight.

Lost

I felt a crisp wind play with my hair. I lunged off the front step and plunged into the soft, white, blanket of snow. I sunk into the soft snow. I decided to venture off into the woods.  I hopped over the fence and made my way into the shadows. Pretty deep into the woods, I heard a low rumbling noise. I looked around, my dark, hazel eyes scanning the woods around me. I saw nothing. I heard it again. Suddenly I saw an almost pitch black shape spring out from some dead bushes. I shrieked in terror, and spotted glistening claws and the full height of the creature was humongous! Seeing huge, frightening teeth and a drooling mouth, I ran for my life. I dodged trees and bushes. I ran so fast I thought I was on fire! When I squinted into the distance, I saw light burst through the dark, shadowed forest. I felt the beast’s hot breath on my neck as I burst out into the clearing. Before I examined the place around me, I knew I had to go back, but for now, I knew I was safe. For now……..

1st Dance Competition!

I was so excited and nervous at the same time. I was about to be on stage at my first dance competition! What was going to happen? All I knew is that I was going to try my best! No matter what the score was I was going to get out there and show my talent! The music was loud and our bodies were flowing, we were on stage dancing, actually dancing and it felt great when I got out there. The audience cheered as we were leaving the stage. Once my group got off the stage we raced to the dressing room to celebrate and get changed for next dance. We were done with our dancing in a blink of an eye and it was soon time for awards. I walked quietly onstage and as we sat down they started to announce the awards.  Finally they announced the small groups! This was our big chance! (The awards were bronze, high bronze, silver, high silver, gold, high gold, and platinum). Then they announced “The Tigers,” which was a group of 5 year olds. They won because the judges thought they were so cute. It was the worst!

Snow Storm

The deer was alone,
The storm was powerful
By the snow falling out of the sky
As the deer looked for safety
The deer found the cave
So he rushed in there until the storm came close

The deer finally made it safe

Diamond

My mother is a diamond
She is the jewel that keeps our family together and close as one
She is the glimmer that stays clean and has unlimited value
She’s the most precious crystal that is desired by many
She is the sparkle that constantly shines

My mother is a diamond.

My Mother is an Angel
Flying high above the clouds,
Halo on her head.
Her Halo is her shiny gold crown where she stores her amazing knowledge.
Her snow white wings help her to watch over her family from the air.
Her moonlight silver dress is her protection and armor.
Her golden bow is to defend her family and to ward off evil.
She is the best mom anyone could ever dream of!

Jones Farm

There were so many pumpkins at Jones Farm. I went with Mom. I saw pink pigs. I saw a pig face on a pumpkin. I put gourds and pumpkins in a brown wheel barrel.

I went back to Jones Farm with Dad, Caroline and Henry. I saw pink pigs. I went through a corn maze. I got little and big pumpkins. I will carve the pumpkins I picked. Going to Jones is exciting!

MY FAMILY

I am very kind and sweet to all whom I meet,
like the whipped cream on a sundae.

My brother Connor is a doctor, VERY smart and sweet.
He is like the hot fudge who makes everyone feel good.

My sister is still in college, she is going to be a vet.
She is like the fruit topping that keeps every one healthy.

My dad is always busy, but he stays home and plays with me.
He is like the ice cream that is the most fun.

My mom is mostly busy, but she plays with me too.
She is like the chocolate that is so sweet.

My uncle helps me with my homework when my mom is busy.
He is like the bowl that holds everything together.

My other sister always reads and is very smart.
She is the healthy treat that makes us happy.

My other brother Alan is barely home.
He is like the ice cream that is all gone, and missed very much.

Together we are one big ice cream sundae.

THE BIG HIKE

Ding! My alarm woke me up. 9:00 I yelled for everybody to wake up. I flopped on my clothes and ran outside and it was as hot as a sauna.
“David breakfast!” my mom called. yum bacon and eggs for breakfast.
“That was delicious,” I exclaimed as my cousins were coming downstairs. they just woke up. You better eat fast,  we are leaving soon.
I walked back outside and back up the outside stairs with my cousin Michael and we went to the field. we saw two baby deEr and a mom and dad.
“Let’s go see if there are any frogs in the creek,” I suggested. I darted over to the creek and heard something.  it was a frog.
“C’mon lets go get packed for the hike. Let’s go!  my mom screamed as I was making my salami sandwich. As I walked out the door I heard a stick crunch under my foot and the birds tweeting. I could already tell that this would be a good hike.
finally I got into the car and we were driving.  It took two cars to take us all.it was a 15 minute ride. Right when we got out I was the first one out of the car.
My cousin was out next. I darted over to the trail and there was a great view of New York. Let’s get on the trail so we started walking to the big hill of rocks.  we had to climb all the way up all the rocks.  right when we got over all the rocks I saw a giant cliff and it made me get butterflies in my stomach.  I thought I would fall off.
we saw a green dot and a yellow dot on a tree and we went on the green trail.
“wow!  look at that huge rock! maybe we should stop for lunch.”
I ripped my salami sandwich and ate it so fast I forgot I ate it.
“look there is a tepee!”
I ran over and jumped into the tepee. There was a skull in it so we screamed and ran out as fast as our feet could carry us. I looked for all the green dots and it led us to a cave it looked like a mine and explorable.
So I walked in and had to grab my flashlight from my bag.   it was very dark. I saw an old rickety ladder and I stepped slowly down it and I shined my flashlight all around. I saw a giant chest I screamed for everybody to come over. we all tried to open it and it was locked so we all carried it back up the ladder.  I Said, “we’ve got to bring it back home and find the key to the chest.”
My uncle got a pic lock and finally got the chest open. there were diamonds and gold and pearls
“ we’re rich!” I exclaimed. “I can have anything I want Like a Mansion and live with all my cousins like Michael Jonny, Mary, Owen, Kevin, James, Kelly, Timmy, and a dog Bailey. I could get LeBron’s and elite socks. I can even get season tickets to the Mets and jets!”

I started to grab as much gold as I could carry and diamonds my pockets were filled with gold and diamonds, my pants were falling down. I was so happy I jumped with joy and started screaming and running all around the house and making as much noise as possible while I started thinking of all the things that I could do with all precious gold and diamonds.

Shadow Man

A man is following me
I don’t know who, I don’t know why.
I was walking, he walked.
I ran, he ran.
 I stopped, he stopped.
I played hop scotch, he copied me!
I walked inside to get some water. Yes!
He is gone!
I walked back out, he was waiting for me!
I put my hands on my hips and yelled at that man.
”Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!
Go away, stop following me!
I’ve had enough, as you can see.”
My mom came out to see the fuss,
And I noticed a cloud pass by the sun.
My mom told me “stop hollering!”
“The man made me!”

I pointed down and when she looked there was only dirt.

My Dad

My dad is a cheeseburger.
He is the buns, keeping the pieces of the family together.
He is the lettuce, tomato, and onions, adding flavor, fun, and color to the mix.
He is the cheesy patty, the main part of the household, helping me and my siblings.
He is the ketchup, adding zest to all of the fun activities we do.
He is the side of fries, always there when you need him and adding a little something extra.

My dad is a cheeseburger!

Sugar Cookies

The silvery whisk felt smooth on the palm of my hand. Its metal almost felt as though it had been frozen. The glossy outer shell shone, reflecting the glimmer of the lights overhead. Without thinking, I poked my finger into the thick pale yellow dough. My finger traveled towards my mouth, my eyes glancing sideways at my mother every two or three seconds.
She was digging through a neat pile of cooking materials. My eyes stared at her, two hazel green circles, unblinking. I sucked on my finger, my eyes never leaving my mother, following her fast movements. Gripping a large steel tray, my mother turned. I had (luckily) finished licking the soft sugariness. Mom smiled, obviously not noticing my sneaky act. She shuffled towards me, then halted. “Leyli?” she questioned “can you get the oven mitts?” “Strange” I thought “she usually gets them…” I ran to the wooden brown drawer, grabbing the flowered oven mitts. The blossoms were sunflower yellow with a black stems, black as night with no moon. I handed the oversized mittens, to my mother. To my surprise, she handed the mitts back to me. “Huh?” I grunted, with a puzzled look on my face. “Come on!” she exclaimed “put them on!”

With that, I nearly fainted with surprise. “Mom! You really don’t mean it, right?” I whispered, almost speechless. “Yes I mean it!” she confirmed, grinning. You could tell by the way she laughed, she was proud of herself for surprising me. I smiled weakly (but happily) and slowly reached out and grabbed the oven mitts, slipping them on to my shaking hands easily. They were warm and soft on the yellow inside, like a quilt. I rubbed the smooth outside on my cold face, warming myself up. I gripped the hard steel tray and picked it up. The cookies ended up being surprisingly light. I had expected them to be rock hard, considering the effort it took to mix the thick dough. As my mom opened the oven door, I cautiously pulled out one of two racks and carefully placed the tray onto the rack. As my glasses began to get foggy, I pushed in the ovens rack and closed the oven door with care, taking the oven mitts off.

St. John

I was looking out the window of the plane. It was a cold, stormy day at JFK Airport. I couldn’t feel the breeze anymore because I was boarding the plane to St. John.
I had been to St. John three times before. I knew that the food was great there and the beaches were amazing.
My dad was working for the Jim Simons’ foundation. Jim Simons was a multi-billionaire and that was the only reason we were going on this trip for the 4th time.
Once we got there me and my brother got on our swimsuits and jumped in the super crystal clear warm water. The water was so warm it felt like being in a hot tub on a warm sunny day. The clearness of the water was like looking at glass. The sun was beating on me so hard I thought I was going to get sunburned. There was a floating dock that has been in the water the past two years. It was about fifty yards away from shore. The sky was cloudless and it was the color of pink and orange. The sun was just barely hovering over the horizon.
My mom called me and my brother to come over so we could get changed and go to dinner. My stomach was lurching as me and my brother walked back to the cabin.
Then we walked to the diner to grab and amazing dinner. We met our dad and sister and sat down. We ordered quickly and talked about our day. After our food came we started eating like crazy because, like I’ve told you, the food is amazing. I had a huge dinner and the food was great and once everyone finished we headed back to the cabin.

As we were getting closer to the cabin we spotted a donkey happily eating grass. Our family went over to get a closer look and we all ended up touching him and petting his mane. Then we spotted a mongoose sitting in the corner of the field stalking us. At first I was scared because earlier that year my dad said that mongooses killed king cobras, but my dad told me they were afraid of us. So when I walked closer the mongoose acted like a squirrel and ran away. Then we finished our walk back to the cabin and continued talking about our day again. We finally we reached the cabin. Then we got changed, brushed our teeth and we all went to sleep instantly. My time on St. John was an amazing experience filled with family, fun and adventure.

                         Old Indian Tale

Acha (my dad) and I dashed to the parade. We were late to see these tiger, leopard and lion animals, but I didn’t know what they were called in India. One of the parade tigers jumped out of the cart and slowly walked toward Acha and me. I was scared for a second, but not to the point where I would cry, when my dad grabbed my hand and punched the tiger while he was kicking it. I now think that was what the parade animals were supposed to do or it was a joke. Anyway the tiger ran away and jumped back into his parade cart with all the other animals.

                                  Author’s note:

This story took place in India when I was three. My dad and I came to an Indian parade, then this exclusive story occurred.

Surf Away!

The summer wind caught my face in a pillow of screeching water.
Mist sprayed me with its sparkling summer sand.
I could not see the light of the smiling sun,
As my head went under the deep blue sea.
When I popped my head up to the surface of the water,
I was able to catch a glimpse of my dad’s laughing surf board
Before a wave slammed into me,
And sent me flying along with it.
Quickly I grabbed my black, yellow, and red surf board
And stood up on it.
While riding, it felt as if I rode my board all the way home.
When my dad finally flipped over,
I jumped in and swam out to the wave I liked,
Stood up on my board and hit the gleaming waves

For the last time that day.

I am a shoe

I am a shoe.

I wonder what it would be like to be a child.

I hear the stomping of feet all day.

I see grass, dirt, woodchips, and pavement.

I want the world to talk to me.

I am so sad that nobody listens to me.

I pretend I am a person.

I feel your feet on me.

I touch the ground every moment.

I understand that your feet get big and you have to get rid of me.

I say, “I love being a high heeled shoe.”

I dream of making a friend.

The Football

I am a football.

I wonder when the next game starts.

I see a crowd entering the stadium.

I want to get kicked into the field goal.

I am ready to see the Patriots.

I pretend I am the coach coaching the team.

I feel Tom Brady’s hand.

I touch the net of the field goal.

I understand I need to be kicked.

I say, “What is the score?”

I dream of being a football player.

A Pencil I Am

I am a pencil.
I wonder what I look like when I’m little.
I hear children talking to the teacher.
I see all these words like me, I, am, people, and next.
I want to be used, but not too much.
I am all graphite and wood.

I pretend to be real.
I feel smooth.
I touch a lot of paper.
I understand some of the words on each page.
I say, “Stop!” I don’t want to be used and get too small.

I dream I live forever.

A Home Run

Crack!  As soon as I hit the ball I ran as fast as I can to first base.
I saw the ball hit the ground in the outfield.
I raced past first and headed toward second.
Then, past second and ran toward third.
Then I saw a player throw as I passed third.
Then, I slid into home base just as the ball was caught.

I was safe.

Tiny Turtle

Tiny Turtle was walking.
He found a taco on the sidewalk.
The taco said hello, because he had legs, hands and a face.
Tiny Turtle said, “Do you want to walk with me?”
The taco said yes, and then stepped in a wad of gum.
Tiny Turtle took it off, and they went to the arcade.
The taco asked, “Do you want to be friends?”
“Yes, my name is Tiny Turtle.”
 “My name is Tiny Taco.”

 They walked along.

Hole

“Hey, a hole!”
Said the guy with a pet mole.
Where is it?
By the wood shaped like an armpit.
The guy with the pet mole was kinda dull.
I didn’t believe that there was a hole.
It was just a barrel
With a piece of red hair in it.

“Where’s the hole?”
