How The Giants Were Formed
In 1925, a rich business man named Tim Mara, wanted to buy a professional boxer. His bid was turned down so he decided to buy the New York Giants. When Mara bought them they were $500. That season Tim Mara had to give away a lot of tickets. He almost gave away as many as he sold. They started 0-3 but ended the season 8-4, 8 wins 4 losses.
Coaching And Staff
Tim Mara was the first Manager of the New York Giants. The first real coach was Steve Owen who they got in 1931, they kept him until 1954. Two years later they moved to Yankee Stadium. After Steve Owen stopped coaching Jim Lee Howell took over. Also after Tim Mara died Jack and Wellington Mara, his sons took over.
But they had a horrible defense. The Giants were looking better when George Young came to be manager of the giants. He selected Phil Simms. He was a great quarterback but nobody knew who he was. Also they got Lawrence Taylor a great linebacker who turned the Giants into one of the NFLs most feared teams.
