The Fall Adventure

On a cool fall day, I was walking in the woods. I heard a stick crackle so I turned around and quivered when I caught sight of a deer. I calmed down and kept walking. I watched the chuckling chipmunks playing on the huge tree tops. The quiet wind touched my face as it swiftly moved across the sky. I knew I was up for adventure.  I kept walking in the woods. Suddenly, I felt like someone or something was watching me, so I turned around slowly and it was a red fox. The fox was as red as the brick on my house. He scurried away so I followed the creature. I think he knew I was following him but he didn’t turn around. It was like he wanted me to follow to some place wonderful. My eyes widened as I spotted the sight of beautiful flowers in the distance. All of the sudden I came to a clearing and there were foxes everywhere. I think this is where they sleep and eat. I just noticed the fox I’ve been following was a kit (baby fox). I stayed behind the bushes so I wouldn’t scare the foxes.  This was their home and I couldn’t let anyone wreck it so I ran back home, got some left over ham, and went back to the fox home. I figured that they’d be out hunting because it’s the afternoon. So I went where they ate, ( I could tell because there were a lot of scraps and bones), and I put the ham down right in the middle and waited in the bushes for them to come back. As soon as they came back the kit went right to the ham, looked around, and devoured it. I think he liked it. I spotted the little guy running toward the bush I was sitting in, and then he jumped on me and started to lick my face. I didn’t know what to do! I knew I would go there every day and meet my little friend. That was my plan, so I did it. I also always would bring a treat just in case he got hungry and he did. The little guy would grow up soon and it would be all over. But just for the fall I would enjoy it.  That was my fall and it seemed like it went on forever.
