Thomas and Charlie

One day Thomas heard that his cousin was selling chocolate lab puppies.  Thomas was lonely, because he moved to a new place and didn’t have any friends.  So Thomas went to his cousin’s to get a dog.
There were a lot of puppies. Thomas chose a cute brown puppy that was jumping and licking Thomas’ legs.  He named the puppy Charlie.
Thomas wanted to get some toys, dog food, dog bed, leash, and collar for Charlie. They drove to Dog World. Thomas held Charlie in the store.  People were petting and kissing Charlie’s neck. All of a sudden, Charlie started barking and jumped out of Thomas’ arms. Thomas tried to grab him. Charlie ran faster. Thomas got to the aisle with dog bones and saw Charlie running in circles around a German short haired pointer named Rufus. Thomas walked over and petted both dogs on the head. He told Charlie, “Time to go.” Then he bent down and picked up Charlie and carried him to find some toys.
Rufus followed them because he wanted to play. Thomas put Charlie down and the two dogs played tug of war with a squeaky hamburger.
The owner of Dog World came over from the cash registers to see what all the squeaking was. He saw Charlie and Rufus playing tug of war. “You can come back here any time and play with Rufus,” said the shop keeper.
Thomas said to himself, “What a great day with my new puppy. I am so glad that Charlie made a friend!”
