Go Kart Madness
My name
jumps on the board, I slide across the track,
and drift
on every turn.
Boom! Smack! I felt as if my seat was going to
crack.
I held on tight, I knew I had to finish.
As I
cruised along the track, the crisp, cool air makes my face feel numb, I said to
myself “I’ve never felt so free!”
The
intense vibration on the steering wheel
felt as if it were going to burst into thin
air,
along
with the eerie screech of the tires,
being
rubbed and worn out
against the cement saying “Go faster!”
My foot
on the gas pedal kept refusing to hit the brakes on turns,
making me swirl like the icing on a cinnamon roll.
I was
driving so fast,
all I could hear was the revving of the engine,
instead of the cheering
madness.
I saw red
lights shining like supernova suns
at every
spot in the track,
yelling
at me to stop.
I took
one last lap and pulled around the small corner,
needing
to make a sharp turn.
As I
drove slowly down the aisle,
I came to
a hard, jerking, screeching stop.
I flew out
of my seat,
ran to the office
as the
record sheet jumped to hug me.
I read
and read until I saw that I was in 12th place.
I felt a
rain of disappointment pour on top of me,
and then
I exclaimed, “Let’s do it again!”
